FIELD INFORMATION:
The Irondale Soccer program has moved to Grantswood & Gresham.

The majority of work has been completed to revamp Grantswood, now we're waiting for the grass to grow. After just under $13,000 & hundreds of man hours of labor, we're close to being ready to go.
The breakdown on the money looks about like this: $6000 from the city, $2000 from the league, and around $5000 from the club and donations to the club. All of that is over and above our usual expenses of equipment repair, paint, nets, uniforms, etc., etc.
The next hurdle is to get the lights working. The transformer that lights the right half of the facility is bad. A new one has been ordered but still has not arrived. Oh well.

We are so thankful to everyone involved for making this effort a success!!

Still no recommendation has been given to the council for the other full-sized field to replace what we lost at JPK. For now we have squeezed in a 52x104 field, but we had to forfeit our 40x80 youth field in order to do it. That leaves our U8s & u10s practicing on our U6 field, which is @ 40x30. That will enable us to get most practices on the same nights at the same facility. It is our intention to layout a 40x80 field inside of the full sized field, thereby allowing us to keep home games scheduled for U8s & U10s, but practice will be interesting. It also posses a logistical problem for changing out the different goal sizes to accommodate play. We'll figure it out and get by this season. Hopefully relief is on the way.

If you haven't already registered, please make every effort to do so. Teams will be decided
according to registration and placed with the league by 8/21!
We need to get an accurate headcount in order to correctly form teams!

NOTE:   There has been some confusion, intentionally so, with regard to the league with which we are affiliated, and its name. Birmingham Southeastern Soccer League broke ties with AYSA in the Fall of 1997, becoming an "independent" soccer league. In the Fall of 1999 the BSSL changed its name to the Central Alabama Independent Soccer League or CAISL. In the Fall of 2005 the state soccer association decided to call its newly formed "league" Central Alabama Soccer League or CASL, thus intentionally generating the confusion. That's unfortunate for a lot of soccer folks, but it's simple to keep it straight. We play with the "independent" league.

Anyone wishing to become a CAISL referee should contact the league office at 957-1191.
